*** Change to MOPS financial support ***

Hampshire County Council have decided not to support this important service.  As a result, MOPS will in future be entirely funded by client contributions and donations to the charity.
If you wish to donate or leave a bequest, please call us or use the donate button below.

Who is the Service for?

MOPS is for anyone living in the Fareham Borough, who is unable to do basic housework for whatever reason.  This can be short or long term.

Referrals to MOPS

Referrals are accepted from potential clients direct, their carer, families or from care professionals.  Families need to seek the agreement of the client before referral.

Joining the Service

After referral, the Coordinator will contact potential clients to discuss their needs.  Then a visit and formal assessment will be made.  If there is a waiting list then priority will be given to those with the greatest need.

What work can be done?

MOPS can do housework and shopping only.  This can include washing and ironing where appliances are available.

Home Helps do not usually do heavy lifting, work involving climbing, high level work or personal care (i.e. dressing and bathing etc.)

When can the work be done?

This is arranged between the client and the Home Help.  It is when it is suitable for both the client and the Home Help, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and usually excludes bank holidays.

Service Cost

There is a registration fee of £25 per quarter, though we prefer to use Standing Orders and provide a discounted rate for this at £22.50 per quarter. This registration fee helps to cover the cost of co-ordination, training and introduction of Home Helps for the service.  The client pays the home help directly at the time of service - From October 2011 the hourly rate for Home Helps is £6.50 per hour.
For a fact sheet that explains the recent changes to Charges and Arrangements click here

If the new charges seem too high then help may be available; a fact sheet about Pension Credit and Attendance Allowance and other discounts is available click here

It may be possible to help to arrange alternative payment arrangements when other family members wish to pay for the Home Help.
The service is not paid for by Adult Services.
