Community (Action Fareham) Transport (CT) is a charity that
provides transport for those who are disabled or have
difficulties getting about.
Whether you are young or
old, we can help!
Volunteers
Community Transport is always in need of new
drivers.
We are a very friendly work team and
appreciate any time given to help.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer then please
contact us on the details provided on the back of the
leaflet.
Our Drivers
CT
trains volunteers to become
MiDAS (Minibus
Driver Awareness Scheme) trained drivers.
Drivers need to be in possession of a clean and current
driver's license and aged between 25 and 65 years.
MiDAS
MiDAS was originally developed by Hampshire
County Council (HCC), is now administered nationally by
Community Transport Association UK (CTAUK) and
provides organisations with the means to assess and train
all their minibus drivers.
Hampshire County
Council (HCC) and most voluntary organisations require their
drivers to hold a
current MiDAS certificate before driving
their minibuses.
There are significant legislative
requirements.
The HCC 'Welcome to MiDAS' webpage is comprehensive;

MiDAS Training
CT requires drivers
to have a current MIDAS certificate in order to drive our
minibuses.
We can offer MiDAS training to our own drivers
(free of charge) and
other organisations' drivers (see below for course fees).
For further information concerning MiDAS training; click here
.
Our Vehicles
We have a variety of
minibuses which have a maximum of 15 seats and can accommodate up to 3
wheelchairs, plus a smaller vehicle, which has a maximum of
5 seats and can accommodate one wheelchair.
Note: The seating capacity reduces with the number of
wheelchairs carried.
Vehicle Accessibility

All our vehicles are specially adapted with handrails
and low steps for those who are less able to get around.
They also have a lift or ramp for wheelchair and
walking frame users.
Vehicle
Use
CT's vehicles are available
for hire every day for the community groups of the local area.
Passengers can travel with walking sticks, trolleys,
wheelchairs.
The fees are comprehensive including
limited mileage fuel allowance, insurance, breakdown cover etc.
There are a
number of matters that affect the fees; these include :
length of time the bus is used for
miles covered
a discount when 4 or more trips are arranged at one time
if we or the group liaise with the driver for the trip
These rates are given in the sheet click here
Two fee examples :
1. A half day use of up to 4
hours which includes the first 20 miles when CT have done
all the liaison with the driver costs £72.
This
is the equivalent of £4.80 per person if 15 seats are used.
2. With at least 4 trips booked for the above scenario,
there is a 20% discount, and the total cost is £58.
